Auto Follow My @Replies

Right as I was sitting down to watch the SuperBowl I saw this tweet from Darren Rowse. Seemed like a useful thing to have so I cranked out a proof of concept after the Steelers pulled out a squeaker win.

  • Enter your details.
  • Click Login.
  • Twitter grabs your last 200 tweets and parses for any possible @replies (@<user-name> located anywhere in the tweet)
  • Select the ones you want and click ‘Follow’.

Watch out for commas or colons following the username, will have to revisit that if there is sufficient demand for the app in general. Rest assured that I can’t keep what I never have…your Twitter details, that is.

Picasa Download

  • Download your or a friend’s Picasa photos with a couple clicks.
  • Download a single album or all.
  • Due to Picasa limitations, the retrieved images are only web quality.
  • You can only download public albums for now, I might add the ability to download private stuff if there is sufficient demand.

FriendBackup

FriendBackup is an application I wrote in response to a Twitter outage(in July ‘08) that caused many users to lose some of their relationships.

After download of the client, FriendBackup communicates directly with Twitter to retrieve your data, you can’t risk something that was never exposed in the first place.

It stores them in an Excel file for easy archival and import into database applications. The app does have some rate limiting logic to prevent using all API calls. It’s currently in maintenance mode(no new features planned but will fix bugs).

It was recently mentioned on Twitter Power System.
